2. Intro

I’m Ignas, a solo researcher with the main focus on DeFi. My mission is to provide clear, in-depth insights helping my audiences stay up-to-date with the latest trends while actively supporting DAO development.

I believe in the decentralized future and it means actively participating in Swell Network in every way I can—whether it’s by serving as a delegate, joining working groups, discussing any proposals or seizing new opportunities that come up. I’ll also be sharing key DAO decisions on X and my blog.

3. Delegate Communication Intent

I’m committed to keeping the Swell community informed with regular, transparent updates. I’ll provide clear insights into my voting choices and reasoning to ensure everyone understands the direction we’re headed and why.

4. Why I Want to be a Delegate
Currently, DeFi DAOs face several internal issues, such as voter apathy leading to governance attacks, insider voting, and voting concentration among a few active voting addresses. Additionally, they face external challenges like regulatory uncertainty.

I believe in a decentralized future, even if it seems naive. However, the current state of crypto is plagued by misaligned incentives that prioritize short-term speculative gains over the core DeFi values of self-sovereignty and custody.

Equally concerning is the trend of McKinsification in DAOs, where decisions are increasingly made by one or two professional consultant delegates. This discourages individual participation, as their opinions and votes have less impact.

To make DeFi DAOs viable, we must align incentives to encourage active participation in governance from the broader crypto community. I believe that community must be at the core of every DAO. Without giving the community a say in protocol governance, we’re no better than the Web2 companies we aim to replace—companies that view their “community” merely as users to extract value from.

I will assist initiatives that align token holders with the protocol, such as revenue sharing or other methods to bring value to the token. Token holders are frustrated with exploitative tokenomics that only benefit early insiders who acquired tokens at much lower prices, leaving no upside for new investors. Without incentives to buy and hold tokens, the attractiveness and health of DAOs decline.
As mentioned, I will highlight key votes and decisions of the DAO on X and my blog, as I believe the general public is often unaware of important actions being taken.

5. Disclosure

I am the co-founder of Pink Brains, an organization dedicated to promoting various crypto projects through educational content. You can find more info about us here: pinkbrains | Twitter | Linktree .

I’m a delegate for Lido, Instadapp, Arbitrum, Optimism and glad to be a delegate in here - Swell Network. Moreover, I’m actively involved in Uniswap, Aave,…I plan to apply as a delegate to other DAOs soon, with the same mission of strengthening them and aligning token holders with the protocol.

I always make appropriate disclosures and recuse myself from voting when necessary.

6. Delegation

If anyone would like to delegate to me, please use the following address: 0x3DDC7d25c7a1dc381443e491Bbf1Caa8928A05B0

Who are you & relevant experience: FranklinDAO is a premier blockchain organization run by students and alum from the University of Pennsylvania. As delegates for top protocols like Aave, Uniswap, and Compound, we focus on governance mechanisms, treasury/risk management, and payments/incentives. Guided by transparency & sustainability we make independent, informed decisions to ensure the long-term health of the DAOs we serve.

Specifically, the Swell POC for Franklin DAO, Alex Duckworth, has previously contributed in various working groups and initiatives alongside some of the top service providers and delegates in the space including:

  • Uniswap Treasury Working Group (UTWG) - A working group comprised of Franklin DAO, Karpatkey, Arana Digital, and Stable Labs to research the most effective pathways towards treasury management for the Uniswap treasury.
  • Uniswap Accountability Committee (UAC) - A working group comprised of Franklin DAO, Karpatkey, Arana Digital and PGOV to help distribute payments to working groups and delegates. We also onboard new chain deployments to be recognized as the canonical Uniswap contracts and help bring their proposals for matched UNI incentive packages to the DAO.
  • Compound Exchange Rate Oracle Proposal for LRTs and LSTs - An initiative led by Franklin DAO with help from Gauntlet and Chainlink to get all current and future LRT and LST markets to utilize fundamental/exchange rate oracles.
  • Recognized delegate at both Uniswap and Compound

Your stance on overall goals for the DAO: FranklinDAO is excited to become a delegate for Swell Network to contribute to its vision of building a natively financialized and yield-bearing ecosystem. With our expertise in governance, treasury management, and payments, we aim to ensure thoughtful, protocol-level decisions that align with Swell’s mission of sustainable growth. We will champion long-term resilience and community-driven innovation for the Swell in order to make it the dominant platform for yield in DeFi.

Who are you & relevant experience

Tané is formed with a group of crypto-native product builders, based in Tokyo, Dubai, and New York. We are backed by SoftBank, and Japanese tech giants like DeNA, GREE, MIXI.

Our investment arm has invested in and supported various innovative projects that contribute to the decentralized society enabled by the new blockchain technology. Our network operation entity started directly contributing to the ecosystem by being node operators for the core infrastructures and protocols that make Web3 move forward and contributors to the DAOs that manage them. We have been active as delegates in Arbitrum, Optimism, Uniswap, and more.

Takeshi, Head of Network Operations, who worked for Twitter as a senior software engineer and for SmartNews, a Japanese unicorn startup that provides a news aggregation mobile app with 30M MAU as a product manager, is the main representative of the account.

Your stance on overall goals for the DAO

We are fully aligned with Swell DAO’s mission to transform the restaking landscape by promoting inclusivity and accessibility in the DeFi sector. Our commitment is to actively participate in governance processes, contribute to key decision-making, and champion the growth of the Swell protocol.

Our core values reflect our dedication to the DAO’s goals:

Integrity

We value integrity a lot. We believe integrity is the most important virtue even in the industry that values trustless and permissionless. In fact, even though we should aim for governance minimization in the end, the protocols should still need governance and it requires capable and sincere participants. We should be the one of them.

Diversity

Diversity is one of the most important values to achieve decentralization. We are very unique in various perspectives including the geographical diversity (Japan and Asia). We also value diversities provided by other actors and are willing to appreciate them and collaborations with them.

Practicality

We believe in the progressive decentralization. While considering the decentralization is the ultimate goal for crypto/blockchain projects to achieve, we sometimes value practicality and approaches that get things done rather than getting stuck in pursuing the “decentralization” too much from the start.

Transparency

We believe transparency is the vital trait in the decentralized systems. We communicate our findings, feedback, opinions, disagreements and praises in a clear and constructive manner. We believe transparent communications should lead to better discussions and decisions to thrive.

By embracing these values, we aim to:

  • Achieve Swell DAO’s mission: Actively participate in governance to democratize the restaking market, making it more inclusive and accessible.
  • Leverage our expertise: Utilize our technical and user experience knowledge to provide critical feedback on protocol upgrades, user experience improvements, and Layer 2 developments.
  • Represent regional interests: Serve as a bridge between the DAO and the vibrant crypto communities in Japan and Asia, encouraging broader participation and diversity.
  • Enhance governance processes: Contribute to setting fees, appointing delegates, managing proposals, and overseeing incentives and grants to ensure the DAO’s resources are used effectively for research, development, and protocol enhancement.

We are dedicated to contributing meaningfully to Swell DAO’s goals, helping to shape the future of Layer 2 and empower a wider spectrum of participants in the DeFi sector.

Most interested in contributing to

We believe we can contribute to Swell in many different ways.
Our unique experience and expertises outlined below should contribute to critical feedback and comments on technical upgrades, user experience improvements, and expanstion to the Japan/Asian market, which are to be discussed and delivered by collaborating with Swell contributors.

Governance-focused node operator

We believe Swell and other protocols that need node operators should appreciate the importance of the governance more and incorporate some form of “Proof of Governance” for the selection of them. With that direction in mind, we consider it critical and inevitable for node operators to appropriately participate in the governance, not just on the protocol upgrades but also on the meta-governance and DAO operations. We are aiming to be the one that promote the movement and the leading operator with the technical capability as a node operator and governance capability as an active delegate.

Expertise in tech and UX

With our background, which includes serial entrepreneurs, product managers, and software engineers, we have strong expertise in both technology and user experience. This collective expertise enables us to offer critical feedback on technical upgrades as well as user experience improvements. We have experience as node operators with Lido and Etherfi, and we believe we can contribute to Swell.

Japan representative

There are many users and traders using crypto products in Japan, but there are no prominent delegates who actively participate in and contribute to DAO governance from Japan yet. We are aiming to be the one who represents the Japanese users and token holders by being active in the governance.
